Coach turns its attention to Europe
US-based luxury goods brand Coach has signed a joint venture with UK-based menswear label Hackett. Under the agreement, Hackett will distribute Coach’s luxury accessories in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Portugal through independent outlets as well as in department stores. A flagship store in London is expected to open within a year.
Coach has also signed a deal with French department store operator Printemps under which its luxury goods will be available in at least 14 locations in France within three years. The first will be in Printemps’ flagship store in Paris, and will open this summer.
Although Coach has previously tried to enter the European market without a great deal of success, it feels now is a good time to do so. It hopes to raise brand awareness and its main product focus will be on high-quality leather bags.
