Slight growth for Guangdong leathergoods
Customs figures show Guangdong leathergoods exports rose 3.5% to $1.14 billion during the first three months of the year, although there was a dip in March as a result of the Chinese New Year holidays.
The region’s main export destinations are the US, the EU, Hong Kong and Japan, accounting for 77% of its total leathergoods exports. During the three-month period, exports to the US rose 21% to $320 million, while exports to Hong Kong rose 21% to $180 million. Exports to Japan fell 11%.
