New Zhengzhou Gucci store makes a million on day one

A new Gucci store in Zhengzhou, China, has made an instant impact. According to reports, it sold goods worth one million yuan ($146,475) the day it officially opened, April 8.

The new store, which opened in Zhengzhou Dennis Department Store, sells a wide range of luxury items including leather footwear and leathergoods. Products are divided into three sections based on price, with top-range products reportedly fetching around 15,000 yuan a piece.

Thousands visited the Italian brand's store on the opening day and the biggest spenders were reportedly offered VIP membership.
