Italian minister looks to improve leather trade with Mongolia

Italy’s deputy minister for economic development, Adolfo Urso, is currently leading a delegation of the country’s top business people in Mongolia.

From April 10-13, around 50 Italian companies, including leather sector representatives, are visiting the country in a bid to improve bilateral trade.

According to Mr Urso, Mongolia could become an important country for Italian investors, particularly for those in the leather and textile industries, as well as those in construction and tourism.

Bilateral trade has risen 30% over the last five years, breaking the EUR 100 million threshold in 2007-08. Italy’s main exports to Mongolia include leather shoes, agricultural machinery and furniture. It mainly imports leathergoods, textiles and processed meat in return.
