Australian beef exports fall
Australian beef and veal exports fell 17% in value to A$196 million (US$178.5 million) in January. The decline has been attributed to lower beef supply and negative currency effects.
January beef exports to three of the country’s four major export destinations fell. Exports to the US fell 41% to A$33 million, while exports to Japan dropped 26 % to A$85 million and exports to Indonesia fell 9% to A$10 million. Korea was the only major market not to, with shipments in the month up 30% year-on-year to A$30 million.
