Turkish industry may launch new leather association

Senior leather industry figures in Turkey have claimed that the lack of powerful leather association in the country is holding back the development of their businesses.
Many other business sectors have professional lobbying chambers and industry associations in the national capital, Ankara, but companies related to the leather sector (including tanners, footwear and garment manufacturers and traders) have no similar representative organisation.
Recently, the owner of leathergoods manufacturer Dericizade, Faruk Kucuk said: "The lack of cooperation and common organisation are holding back our development, so, soon we will establish our own chamber of association, which we will be able to use to improve our relations with the media and with the government."
