Indian leather exports fell by nearly 13%

India's leather exports had a value of almost $2.7 billion during the first ten months of the current financial year (April 2009-January 2010).

In the corresponding period in the 2008-2009 fiscal year, the value of leather exports was over $3.1 billion, indicating a decline of 12.9% in dollar terms. The fall was lower, 6.6%, if export values are expressed in the local currency, the rupee.

Exports of finished leather had a value of $492 million in the first ten months of this financial year, while leather footwear exports were worth $922.7 million.
