Canton Fair ready for 107th session
09/03/2010
The next session of the China Import and Export Fair (April 15-May 5), known as the Canton Fair, will be the 107th since the event began in 1957.
The organisers describe it is an important channel of China’s overseas trade. The previous session, which ended in November, attracted 188,170 buyers from 212 countries and attracted trade valued at almost $30.5 billion.
Around 20,000 Chinese companies are expected to take part, with new-launch products representing an estimated 40% of the goods on display. The organisers insist that they take the subject of intellectual property rights very seriously. Since 2007, the event has also included an International Pavilion to give overseas companies the chance to exhibit their products too. Over the last six sessions of The Canton Fair, more than 2,000 companies from 50 companies have taken this chance.
The Canton Fair takes place in the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou and will, for the next session, cover 1.1 million square-metres of exhibition space.
