Micam shows signs of recovery
09/03/2010
The organiser of the Micam footwear event, the Italian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association (ANCI), has announced that the most recent edition of the fair, which ran from March 2–5, attracted 36,623 visitors. This number is almost exactly the same as the number of visitors who attended last March, 36,555.
ANCI president, Vito Artioli, commented: “The success of this edition confirms that for operators worldwide, Micam continues to be a real point of reference for our sector. I believe this is the merit of our exhibition format, which has never strayed from the selective criterion of quality and from the strong connection with the market, but is also and especially the merit of companies that continue to invest in research, technology and design in order to present products that are ever richer from the standpoint of style and quality and therefore ever more competitive.”
There were 1,597 exhibiting companies, 591 of them from outside Italy, displaying their collections for autumn-winter 2010-11.
Mr Artioli said he thought it was fair to interpret this edition of Micam as “one of the first signals of the long-awaited recovery”. He said exhibiting companies had confirmed to the organisers that they had carried out positive negotiations at the event.
ANCI said 17,687 visitors were from Italy and 18,936 from other countries, with especially significant presences from Spain, France and Germany. There were also encouraging numbers of visitors from Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union, along with Japanese and US visitors.
