Leather course to run again in 2010
04/03/2010
After a successful launch in 2009, testing and research and technology centre SATRA and independent training consultancy Leather Wise have announced that they will run their two-day leather course again in 2010.
The course will run on April 7-8, July 6-7 and October 19-20 this year.
The event is aimed at manufacturers, sourcing companies and retailers of all types of footwear, leathergoods, garments, accessories and upholstery. The organisers say it is ideal for newly appointed, as well as, more experienced technologists and buyers.
On the first day, delegates will be able to increase their understanding of the processes involved in making and using leather. This will include a visit to the tannery at the British School of Leather Technology at the university of Northampton.
Day two will focus on the selection and use of leather, including grading and measurement, chemical testing, environmental issues, physical testing and colour fastness. This will also include a tour of the SATRA facilities and laboratories.
Leather Wise and SATRA staff will be available on both days for combined discussions and questions. Each delegate will receive course material and a leather identification kit to take away.
The first day will be hosted by Leather Wise in Northampton and the second day by SATRA at Wyndham Way in Kettering.
