02/03/2010

The government of Mauritania has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with India for funding to build a new tannery in the African country. India is becoming an increasingly import provider of aid to African countries.

With total funding of $21.8 million, the new Indian aid project will seek to make a lasting difference to the quality of life of people in rural communities in southeast Mauritania, close to the border with Mali, with specific emphasis on hydro-energy and agroindustrial initiatives.

Projects will include a newly equipped tannery, an abattoir, and dairy and animal feed facilities.
