Slaughter rates fall in Australia

Abattoirs in Australia are experiencing shortages in supply as livestock slaughter rates across the country fall.
Compared to a year ago, current weekly rates of cattle slaughter are down by 16% on average, according to Meat and Livestock Australia. The slaughter rate for calves is down by 14%, for lambs by 17%, sheep by 30%, goats by 15% and pigs by 3%.
