Tunisia imports more Brazilian leather
According to new figures from the Confederation of Brazilian Hides and Skins Industries (CICB), Brazilian leather exports rose 42% year-on-year to $104.4 million in January. Shipments rose 21% in volume.
One of the countries who imported significantly more Brazilian leather was Tunisia. The country imported almost 50 times as much Brazilian leather compared with last year, with exports totalling $566,450.
The main export market was Italy with $27.9 million, which was a 26.8% share of total leather exports and reflects growth of 34% compared with the same month in 2009. China was next with $23.3 million (a 22.3% share and 55% growth), followed by the US with $10.4 million (with a 10% share and 130% growth) and Hong Kong, with $9.25 million (an 8.9% share and a 12% decline).
