DyStar leather business lives on
DyStar has announced that Kiri Dyes and Chemicals Ltd (KDCL) has became its new owner after a long negotiation period.
The two firms will operate as independent companies and DyStar will continue to offer its full range of dyes, process and effect chemicals as well as its activities for the leather industry through its previously acquired Boehme brands.
DyStar says it will continue to focus on research, quality and the environment.
Although the firm’s Geretsried site is not part of the assets purchased, DyStar will continue to manufacture and sell former Boehme chemicals such as Cutapol and Eskatan. These products will now be manufactured at alternative DyStar production sites. Production and sale of dyes under the Solvaderm brand name will also continue.
The company says it expects to see “significant opportunities by combining its own forward integration to the leather industry with KDCL’s backwards integration into raw materials and intermediates”.
