China files WTO complaint over anti-dumping
China has filed a complaint to the World Trade Organization (WTO) criticising the European Union (EU)'s decision to extend antidumping duties on Chinese leather shoes.
"The anti-dumping investigations and the findings made by the EU violated various obligations under the WTO, and consequently caused damage to the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese exporters," the Chinese WTO mission said in a statement.
China's commerce ministry also urged the EU to take China's concerns seriously and to resolve the dispute as soon as possible, a statement on the ministry's website said.
Under the WTO's dispute settlement procedures, the EU and China will have 60 days to find a solution to their dispute through consultations. If consultations fail, China can ask for a WTO expert panel to investigate and rule on the dispute.
