DFS could fetch £500 million
The UK’s largest sofa retailer DFS may be sold to private equity firm Permira and retailer John Lovering. It is believed the deal could be worth more than £500 million ($793.4 million).
Founder and owner of the leather and fabric furniture specialist, Lord Kirkham, is working with Goldman Sachs, which has invited a number of acquisition firms to bid for a majority stake in the business. According to reports, several other bids may be in the pipeline.
Lord Kirkham founded DFS 35 years ago and took it private again for £507 million in 2004. The company appears to have benefited from the demise of rival firms Land of Leather and MFI.
