The latest quarterly figures show that cattle numbers in feedlots in Australia have increased by 3.7% as dry, summer weather set in and pastures wilted, while feed prices in southern states dropped in price.

At the end of December there were 770,223 head of cattle in Australian feedlots, compared with 743,052 at the end of September. The Australian Lot Feeders Association released the figures in a statement.
