One of the key members of the management team in Latin America of leather chemicals provider Stahl, Alvaro Vaqueiro, retired at the end of 2009.

Mr Vaqueiro joined the company 42 years ago and became managing director in 1988. Between then and his retirement, he looked after Stahl’s companies not only in Mexico but also in Colombia and Venezuela, as well the company’s business in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.

Staff and customers alike have commented that his retirement marks the end of an era. He was a member and, at various times, president of the Mexican Leather Chemists and Technicians Association. He has also been a member and president of the Mexican Polyurethanes Institute.

Stahl has said that Mr Vaqueiro’s staff will remember him as an outstanding manager, fair and firm yet showing great kindness on those occasions when it was needed.

The company has also said that the accomplishments of Stahl Mexico speak for themselves as a massive tribute to Alvaro Vaqueiro, who was so instrumental in its growth and development in Latin America. His leadership often resulted in Stahl Mexico being called the “star performer”.
Staff and customers have wished him a long and happy retirement with his wife, Janine, and their children Alvaro, Gerardo and Cristiane, with their partners and grandchildren.
