Artisan footwear entrepreneur becomes Bucherer ambassador
14/01/2010
Watch brand Carl F Bucherer has named the founder of a footwear and leathergoods company as a new brand ambassador.
Pedro Muñoz, the founder of Texas-based Stallion Boot and Belt Company, will appear in promotional material wearing the Swiss company’s Patnavi TravelTec watch.
Born in Mexico, Mr Muñoz’s interest in artisan footwear began at the age of five when he received his first pair of handmade boots as a gift from his grandfather. Later, as a university student, he designed his own style of boot and had his father’s bootmaker manufacture a pair to his specifications. Five years after this, he moved to El Paso and set up Stallion to continue the tradition of making Mexican-style leather boots in keeping with time-honoured artisan principles.
His company produces only around 70 pairs per week, but the boots sell in high-end retail outlets such as Colette in Paris and Bergdorf Goodman in New York.
“I create modern classics,” Mr Muñoz has said, “by combining the rich history of the cowboy with some new ideas. This passion, as well as the high quality of the leathers we use and our love for detail, can be felt in every piece Stallion makes.”
Bucherer says that it is this passion for creativity that mkes it and Mr Muñoz a good match.
