Amtrak to put leather seats into Acela trains
13/01/2010
US intercity passenger rail operator, Amtrak, has announced an upgrade to the Acela Express, the service that runs along the north-east corridor of the country, between the cities of Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. The upgrade marks the tenth anniversary of the service.
In March, Amtrak will deploy WiFi technology on Acela Express trains and make internet access available to every passenger free of charge, at least initially. In late 2010, Amtrak will complete a programme to upgrade the interior of all Acela Express trains to increase passenger comfort and amenities. This will include leather seating, improved tray tables, and better outlets to power laptop computers, DVD players and other electronic devices.
