Italian leathergoods brand Antichi Pellettieri has had a difficult start to the year after prosecutors in Milan filed a request that a holding company belonging to the Burani family, which controls the brand, be made bankrupt.

The authorities have requested a bankruptcy order on Burani Designer Holding, which has a controlling stake in Mariella Burani Family Holding, which in turn controls Antichi Pellettieri.

Media in Italy have reported that the group has debts of hundreds of millions of euros, with the debt of Antichi Pellettieri reported to be EUR 140.2 million.
