The shareholders of Brazilian packer and tanning group JBS Friboi have approved merger plans between the company and rival group Bertin.
JBS has said that this move is part of a wider expansion and diversification strategy, which will, among other things, bring about “the largest leather processing operation in the sector”. Their combined capacity for leather production will be 148,500 square-metres a day, they have said.
