PTA complains about electricity charges

22/12/2009

Gulzar Firoz, chairman of the Pakistan Tanners Association has spoken out against a 13.6% increase in electricity charges as of January 1.

Mr Firoz said electricity costs are already too high and that there is no justification for the hike. He believes the change will make life even more difficult for firms in the leather industry and will make their products less competitive.

He believes the government should be introducing incentives for companies who are already struggling in the current economic climate.

The chairman asked the government to withdraw the rate increase before it comes into effect.
