JBS acquires Tatiara Meat Company

JBS SA has issued a statement announcing that its subsidiary, Swift Australia, has reached an agreement with the Vion Food Group to purchase the Tatiara Meat Company (TMC). The purchase price is believed to be approximately AU$30 million (US$27.5 million) for the firm.

The TMC is a high-quality lamb processor that focuses on markets such as the US, Canada and Europe, as well as the domestic market. The company is based in Bordertown, South Australia, a region known for its flock of high quality sheep.
It has annual revenues of approximately AU$200 million.

According to Swift Australia, it will now be the largest processor of lamb in Australia, with a daily slaughter capacity of 24,500 head.
