Townsend bags to support cancer charity

US-based Townsend Leather Company has created a new consumer goods brand, TL Townsend Leather, which will sell handcrafted leather handbags. Furthermore, part of the proceeds from these bags is to go directly to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, which has its headquarters in New York.

TL Townsend Leather handbags are made in the US with the help of various people whose lives have been touched by cancer. One example is Terry Brindle, a woman from Gloversville, New York, who designed a handbag collection for the company named The Angel Collection.

Ms Brindle was a breast cancer survivor who died of ovarian cancer on September 30 after battling it for nearly six years. She designed the collection to raise awareness and support for cancer research.

Ms Brindle participated in an ovarian cancer clinical trial at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in 2008 and was impressed with the technical expertise and the compassion of the people who work there. For each Angel Collection handbag sold, $25 is donated directly to cancer research and clinical trial development at Memorial Sloan-Kettering.
