Pakistan and US discuss market access
The Pakistani and US governments have been holding discussions about bilateral trade and market access.
Pakistan is hoping it will be granted greater market access in the US through the Generalised System of Preferences scheme.
According to reports, there is a possibility special zones in certain areas of Pakistan will be established from which goods exported to the US would be completely duty free. A joint study group representing both countries has already been set up to help promote bilateral change.
The bulk of Pakistani exports to the US are: leather garments, readymade clothing, sporting goods and rice.
