Italy: leather shoe exports and imports down
According to a report compiled by the Italian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association (ANCI), based on figures from the country’s national statistics institute, ISTAT, Italy’s exports of shoes with leather uppers fell in both volume and value between January and July compared with the same period last year.
The number of pairs exported fell 17.5% year-on-year, while export value dropped 16.5%. However, the average price per pair rose 1.2% to €38.10.
These declines were in line with the overall shoe figures for the seven-month period, which fell 16% in volume and 16.6% in value. The top three export destinations for Italian shoes were France, Germany and the UK, although exports to each fell in both volume and value between January and July.
