Leather becomes staple fashion item
According to fashion experts Anna Wallner and Kristina Matisic, leather is a must-have material for fashion items at the moment.
“Leather has transcended trend and become a staple," Ms Matisic, co-host of Canadian television show ‘Anna & Kristina’s Beauty Call’ told news site Canoe.ca. "This season, leather is definitely stronger than ever, with new pieces appearing, such as leather leggings.”
Collections from the major fashion houses such as Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel have used leather extensively in recent collections, for both clothing and accessories.
Canadian designer Denis Gagnon explains why he has gone in for the material in such a big way this season. “I love leather because it’s a material that’s alive, ages well and transforms over time, depending on the wearer’s body," he says. "A leather jacket or leggings are classics you can wear almost anywhere. To dress it up, add something with sparkles like a Lurex scarf. To dress it down, a turtleneck is a good choice.”
