Michelle Obama orders fine leather boots from France

US First Lady, Michelle Obama, has placed an order for leather boots with high-end French footwear manufacturer Robert Clergerie.

The Romans-based company announced the development, saying Mrs Obama had ordered two pairs. The first is a pair of supple calf-length boots in beige doeskin, while the other is a pair of thigh-length boots in black.

Ikram, the First Lady’s favourite Chicago boutique passed the order on because its most famous client had searched there in vain for the kind of boots she wants for this winter.

The French company said that, for the thigh-length black leather boots, it had used its Fissa model, but with a slightly modified sole. The doeskin boots are a model called Wadou, which forms part of its collection for summer 2010.

Founder, Robert Clergerie, added a personal note to the order, congratulating Michelle Obama on her fine taste.
