Delhi fair takes new approach

24/11/2009

The organisers of the last month’s Delhi International Leather Fair (DILF), the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) in association with Council for Leather Exports (CLE), with support from the country’s Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) and Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), have said
that the 2009 show was “entirely different” from previous editions.

What made the difference for this, the seventeenth edition, was a focus on finished products including footwear, leathergoods and leather garments. The organisers said this new approach helped them portray India as a supplier of “high quality value added products and a sourcing point for overseas and domestic buyers of these products”.

The organisers said they would continue to focus heavily on finished products in future editions of the show.

DILF
2009 attracted more than 4000 trade visitors and buyers visite the event, with buyers from 21 countries—Austria, Belarus, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Egypt, Germany, Iran, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Turkey, Russia, South Africa, Spain, UK and Syria—attending.
