Michael Jackson’s leather glove to go on display in Macau

A leather glove that Michael Jackson wore at the first public performance of his ‘moonwalk’ dance in the 1980s has sold at auction for a much higher price than expected.

The organiser of an auction of Jackson memorabilia in New York on November 21, Darren Julien, said he was hoping to receive $50,000 for the Korean-made leather golf glove decorated with Swarovski crystals. But on the day, enthusiastic bidders pushed the price up to $350,000 and, with commission, the final price was $420,000.

The winning bid came from Hoffman Ma, deputy chief executive of the Ponte 16 gaming resort in Macau. He bid on behalf of the luxury gambling resort and the glove, along with nine other items Mr Ma bought at the auction, will now go on display at the Ponte 16 hotel in a special gallery that will open in the course of 2010.
