New ISO 14001 certificates for Smithfield Foods

Packer company Smithfield Foods has announced 36 new ISO 14001 environmental certifications for facilities in the US and Europe.

The newly certified facilities include 14 US plants, 21 farms and a facility in Romania. This means the company now has more than 500 locations around the world with 14001-certification.

Larry Pope, president and chief executive officer, said: "ISO certification acknowledges that Smithfield Foods meets a stringent set of internationally respected environmental management standards."
