Bentley design team to auction artwork

Luxury car brand Bentley Motors is staging an exclusive art auction at Bonhams auction house in London, to raise money for a specialist cancer centre in Manchester.

The Bentley Styling and Design team has created a collection of paintings, photographs and sculptures that will go on sale to provide funding for the centre.

Bentley designer Richard Gilmartin has been raising funds to support the charity since 2001 and is the inspiration behind the project.

With leather playing such an important role in the day-to-day work of the team, it was inevitable that it would feature in some of the artworks in the collection. One example is leather trimmed sculptural wall hanging by Lisa Reeves, a member of the interior design team.

Ms Reeves said in the build-up to the auction that she had been inspired by the "simple and creative principles of origami". She explained that the wall hanging evokes the dynamic and symmetrical form of the Bentley interior. The one-piece construction is composed from quality Bentley materials incorporating fine detailing.
