Dystar’s Leverkusen unit reopens
German chemicals group DyStar has announced that production at its Leverkusen facility has restarted.
The company filed for insolvency on September 28 but announced on October 15 that it would continue to supply customers through some of its production units. Its facility in Geretsried, Bavaria, reopened on October 12, shortly followed by the reopening of its Frankfurt am Main unit, where small-scale production started again. It also reopened its Ludwigshafen plant on October 16.
On October 20, the company said it was in negotiations with the location operators in Leverkusen and Brunsbüttel to clarify the financing of production there.
Commenting on the Leverkusen reopening, preliminary insolvency administrator Stephan Laubereau said: “We are very happy. First we will concentrate our production programme on dyestuffs and intermediate products for the manufacturing industry out of the textile industry for example the paper, leather and plastics industry. This contributes 20% of the capacities in total.” All 383 employees at the Leverkusen plant are involved in the restart.
