Positive Q3 results at Marfrig
Brazilian packer company Marfrig Alimentos turned net loss into income during the third quarter.
The company, one of the world’s largest beef producers, posted net income of 200.5 million reais ($114.9 million) during the third quarter compared with a net loss of 52.69 million reais during the third quarter of 2008. Net sales rose 58% to 2.4 billion reais during the three-month period.
The company says recent acquisitions led have boosted its capacity, helping it to improve income results. It has made around 40 acquisitions during the last three years, including buying a 51% stake in Uruguay-based leather producer Zenda in September.
