Bangladesh’s leather exports drop 12.5%

According to the Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau, the country’s total leather sector exports fell 12.5% to $73.2 million during July and August compared with $83.6 million during the same period last year.

The country exported leather footwear worth $40.5 million compared with $42.6 million, down 4.8%. Finished leather exports fell 22.3% to $29.9 million from $38.51 million.

However, leather bag and purse exports rose 8.7% to $2.8 million compared with $2.5 million during the same period last year.
The country’s annual target for leather exports is $476.8 million. Its total export target is $16.7 billion.
