Leather production falls in Pakistan

New data from Pakistan shows that the country’s leather production fell 2% year-on-year in July. The country produced 1.85 million square-metres of leather during the month compared with 1.89 million square-metres in July 2008.

Footwear production also declined during the month. The country produced 2,691,000 pairs of shoes in July, down 3.24% compared with 2,781,000 pairs in July
2008. However, sole leather production rose 150% to 20 tons in July compared with just eight tons in July 2008.
