Meat exports from New Zealand down

21/09/2009

Meat exports from New Zealand fell by 26% in August compared to the same month in 2008, according to industry sources in Australia.

Reports said New Zealand exported a total of 16,470 tonnes of meat during the month, suffering large drops in shipments to key markets such as the US (56%), Japan (41%) and Taiwan (17%).

Meat production has dropped in New Zealand, and the high value of its currency, the New Zealand dollar, is another factor in producing these results.
