Mipel exhibitors believe in rapid recovery

17/09/2009

The ninety-sixth edition of Milan-based bag and leathergoods exhibition Mipel got under way on September 16.

In all, 420 exhibitors were present, around the same number as took part in the March 2009 edition of the event. They represented 25 countries, with the highest number (269) coming from Italy, followed by India with 62 and Spain with 26.

The companies used the event this time as a platform for launching their spring-summer 2010 collections.

At the start of the exhibition, Giorgio Cannara, president of the Italian Leathergoods Association (Aimpes) and of the event organising committee, commented: “The economic crisis has hit all sectors, including the leather handbag sector. However, an event like Mipel proves that Italian and
international manufacturers believe in a rapid recovery.”
