A specialist consultancy in Argentina has reported that the “price-effectiveness” of the livestock sector in the South American country has increased substantially in the last three months. Overall, it said the Argentinian livestock sector had increased its competitiveness by 59% compared to December 2008.
Currency fluctuations have helped livestock farmers there. However, the consultancy, Economía y Regiones, said that the situation had also benefited from price-rises in the international marketplace of hides (which it put at 3.8%) and meat (10%) over the six-month period.
