German provider of products and services for the leather industry DyStar has signed an agreement with the Singapore Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES).
The new deal means that DyStar will be able to set up a research unit in the ICES premises with an initial team of six researchers, led by Dr Roxana Barbieru. The DyStar team will be collaborating with various research groups at ICES.
The agreement was signed by Steve Barron, vice-president of strategic marketing and DyStar and Dr Keith Carpenter, executive director of ICES.
“The Singapore research team is an integrated part of our global research efforts to develop new colours with specific performance and application benefits,” said Dr Clemens Grund, global head of DyStar’s research and development. “An additional key factor for deciding that a new facility should be located in Singapore was the local emphasis on the protection of intellectual property.”
