Fratelli Carlessi to make comeback

The managing director of tanning machinery manufacturer Fratelli Carlessi has predicted that the company will emerge from liquidation in the near future, under new ownership.
Gianluigi Carlessi told leatherbiz that he had been obliged to take the decision in August to put the company into liquidation as a result of the global economic downturn. He said: “For me, it was a demoralising and frustrating decision, but it was the only possible way to avoid to making the situation even more difficult.”
He said that Fratelli Carlessi’s long history in the tanning industry, and its good reputation, would be principal factors in attracting new owners. “The company will start again with new owners,” Mr Carlessi said, “but it will still offer the same kind of after-sales service and produce the same kind of machinery.”
