Venezuela focuses on trade with Argentina

12/08/2009
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has met with the President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner to discuss bilateral trade.

Relations between Venezuela and Colombia continue to be strained, and Mr Chavez is hoping it can increase imports of certain goods from Argentina rather than relying so heavily on Colombian imports.

According to reports, Venezuela will import up to 10,000 cars from Argentina this year rather than from Colombia.

The two presidents have also reportedly signed agreements under which Venezuela will import leathergoods, agricultural equipment and poultry products worth $1 billion.
