Turkey disappointed over Russian market closure

A large market in Moscow, well known for its leathergoods and footwear offering, has closed down and many Turkish producers are concerned this will have a profound effect on their exports to Russia.

Ramazan Hazar, president of the Turkish Leather Manufacturers’ Association said: "The products of about 500 Turkish companies are marketed at the Carcissian market. The value of the leather/textile products are about $2 billion. Russia is our main market; if the closure continues, our producers and exporters will be in great trouble—they already lost the summer season and the danger for winter season is also possible. Finally, our government should look after this problem and take the necessary measures."
