New tannery to open in Iraq
Baghdad-based leather and leathergoods
The tannery will produce semi-finished leather and will cost around 12 billion Iraqi dinars ($10.3 million) to build.
A statement said: "The project, within the framework of the 2009-2010 investment plan appropriations, will be implemented over two stages: the first envisaging the production of wool from the tanning process in a bid to meet the local market needs and exports abroad; while the second will see centres established to receive hides and wool from southern and central areas.”
