Luxury goods prices fall in Italy
According to reports, commodity prices for luxury goods in Italy fell 6.4% during the 12 months to June 2009, a higher fall than that recorded in May (-5.5%). Unsurprisingly, the price decline started in September 2008.
Furthermore, while raw material prices fell in some areas, the leather sector has been negatively impacted by a 6.2% rise in skins and leather prices.
Furniture prices fell 2.8% during the 12-month period, compared with a 20.3% rise for the year ended November 2008. Clothing and footwear prices fell 0.4%; however, this was much improved compared with the 12.3% decline for the year ended March 2009.
