ICHSLTA will hold meeting in Shanghai
31/07/2009
The International Council for Hide Skins and Leather Traders’ Associations (ICHSLTA) has announced that it will hold its second general meeting of the year in Shanghai on September 3, the second day of the All China Leather Exhibition. The meeting will take place at the exhibition venue, the New International Expo Centre, starting at 15.30 and running until 17.30.
Although the organisation held a formal meeting in Hong Kong at the APLF event in April, president, Madam Zhang Shuhua, has said that she and vice-president, John Gorman, have agreed that a second meeting will "strengthen exchange and cooperation between members" and provide an important opportunity to discuss new issues that have risen in the trade sincethe Hong Kong gathering.
The meeting will discuss applications from new members of ICHSLTA, but it will also try to move ahead on proposals to improve the international contracts that govern hide trading. ICHSLTA and the International Council of Tanners agreed in Hong Kong to set up a committee to look at this. Madam Zhang has said she hopes to come closer to establishing this committee in Shanghai. She will also give a report on new policies recently implemented in China regarding light indutries, including the production of leather and leathergoods.
She said the meeting may also include a discussion about the current status of the global leather industry if time permits.
