Assomac promises quality at Tanning Tech and Simac

Assomac, the industry organisation responsible for organising the Tanning Tech and Simac events in Bologna (October 13-15), has said that exhibitors this year "want to defy the recession" and present their newest technological solutions to international leather sector clients.
"The leathergoods and footwear industries around the world, no country excluded, have been hit seriously by the repercussions of the international economic recession in an extremely difficult 2009," Assomac said in a statement at the end of July. "The sharp drop in the sales of leather products on the major markets in the west, the United States and Europe in particular, has had a devastating effect on industries in all manufacturing countries, primarily those in the west but with a knock-on effect also in the east, the “factory” of the world where the growth trend had seemed unstoppable in recent years. This situation has, of course, had an impact on all trade fairs, those of the supplying industries—machinery, components, accessories and chemical products—and finished-product ones, held this year on all continents."
In spite of this, the organisation said that Tanning Tech and Simac's "traditional substance", innovation, would still be on show, perhaps even to an increased extent, even though some exhibitors have decided not to bring large-scale machines, others will use the event just to hold meetings with clients and some have still to decide how much of a presence they will have.
Part of the upbeat message is that the technology on display this year for leather processing and the manufacture of footwear and leathergoods will be modern, reliable and eco-friendly machinery, systems and products. At the same time, Assomac said, it will be technology that guarantees reliability, wherever in the world they are installed, and clients' safety.
