BASF makes plans for Shanghai event

BASF has said that at this year's All China Leather Exhbition in Shanghai, September 2-4, it will be focusing on products and processes that offer "distinct ecological and economic advantages", as well as displaying its range of established products for use at all stages of the leather production process.
It will have a team of experts in attendance to advise customers and to inform them about new developments and its range of established products.
For example, Lepton Enhancer LT offers low-grade crust upgrading under standard tannery processing conditions. It covers defects and irregularities while yielding the highest standards of print definition and retention, BASF says. Lepton Enhancer LT is compatible with most finishing chemicals. The lower application temperature is a means of avoiding unnecessary complications; the leather remains soft and the break is not impaired. Lepton Enhancer LT does not contain NMP and is free of organic solvents for eco-friendly application.
Another product, Astacin Top LP, is a solution for achieving high gloss, transparency and an elegant smooth surface on leather. This new water-based auxiliary for leather finishing is recommended for top coats of aqueous finishes and, BASF claims, presents the closest alternative to solvent-based patent finishing. Astacin Top LP does not contain alkyl-tin compounds and has reduced airborne emissions in comparison to established standards, which makes it more environmentally compatible. It is recommended for all types of leather with a high gloss, especially for water-based patent leather.
The new range of formaldehyde-free Basyntan tanning agents offers products for all kinds of leather articles, especially regarding eco-friendly leather. Basyntan products offer high light-fastness and heat resistance. Basyntan IS & FO are for filling and tightness, while Basyntan AS is for innovative aluminium-sulfon and Basyntan UR has good light-fastness and heat resistance.
Relugan soft polymers by BASF are intended to solve problems for soft, full and tight leather. The range of products offers the right polymer for each parameter. All products are free of formaldehyde, monomers and inorganic salts. The main characteristics include high light-fastness, heat resistance and good compatibility with other products. Relugan Full ES, the liquid branched polyacrylate copolymer, offers a soft, round handle with a fine grain and first-rate dispersing power. Relugan SOFT HF unites the positive characteristics of polymer retanning agents and fat liquors. Relugan Soft HF is recommended for all types of soft leather requiring a high degree of light, heat, and migration resistance. It is especially suited for leather low in VOC and FOG. In addition to this, Relugan Soft HF facilitates production of washable leathers and leathers with specific light weight. Relugan FS gives leather a pleasant handle, fullness, and a smooth tight grain. It shows good results in light-fastness, heat resistance, and resistance to migration. Furthermore Relugan Tight FR-NF liquid is the right approach for filling and buffing of all kinds of leather articles.
The new reactive dyes for leather present a new fastness profile that prevents the colour from fading and migrating. Thus, it is possible to create innovative design solutions as well as new material combinations. Also the application of all Lugafast reactive dyes is simple and efficient. Lugafast colours are available as Black AN, Brown BB, Brown BC, Red RR, Yellow GG and Blue.
