Bovine hide imports reach record level

The authorities in the city if Jianjing in the Chinese province of Fujian have announced that a record number of imported cow hides arrived at the port in the first half of 2009.
During the first six months of the year, the volume of bovine hides arriving at Fujian's port rose by 110.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching 28,800 tonnes.
The value of these imports increased by 20.2%, reaching $38.8 million.
